Clinical team

The people who will look after you

A small clinic, led by a consultant psychiatrist, where the same people see you each time. Every treatment plan is reviewed by Dr Nabavi before it starts.

Clinical leadership

Led by Dr Behrouz Nabavi

Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist and Medical Director, with 34 years of clinical experience.

Advanced neuromodulation takes more than specialist equipment. It takes clinical judgement: knowing when treatment is appropriate, how it fits the wider psychiatric picture, and how to guide someone through it safely.

Dr Nabavi usually carries out the initial assessment and screening himself, before any treatment is offered. He is also an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Aston Medical School.

The wider team

A small team, and the same faces each visit

Consultant psychiatry

Every assessment and every treatment plan goes through a consultant psychiatrist before treatment begins, not afterwards.

Neurostimulation technicians

Gail Billingsley and Yvonne Baird, both from a mental health nursing background, and Elisa Mottarm, from a psychology background. They deliver your treatment sessions, take your weekly brain mapping and sit with you through every session.

CBT-I therapist

Teresa McCougherty, our CBT-I therapist, sees patients for cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia at the clinic and online across the UK.

About CBT for insomnia

Practice management

Sepideh Zadeh, Practice Manager. The person you speak to when you first call, who arranges your appointments around the rest of your life.

Individual profiles, with a short biography for each member of the team, will follow.

Our approach

How we work

We tell you if we cannot help

On the phone, before you have paid for anything. We would rather tell you early than book you in for something that will not help.

A consultant decides, not a technician

Every pathway is reviewed by a Consultant Psychiatrist before treatment is recommended.

We measure rather than assume

Symptoms are scored on validated scales at set points, so you can see whether treatment is working.

We keep your own doctor informed

With your permission we write to your GP or psychiatrist. We are providing a treatment, not taking over your care.

We are clear about the evidence

Protocols exist for other conditions. If you ask about one, we will explain honestly where the evidence stands.

Consultant-led from the start

Some clinics assess you after you have committed to a course of treatment. Here it is the other way round: you see Dr Nabavi first, he tells you whether the treatment suits you, and the £400 assessment fee comes off the cost if you go ahead.

If it does not suit you, he will say so, and you will not have spent thousands finding out.

Standards and governance

CQC registered

The clinic is registered with the Care Quality Commission.

GMC registered and on the specialist register

Dr Nabavi is GMC 5174196, a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, and Section 12(2) approved.

His full credentials

NICE-aligned

We follow NICE guidance, including its own caution that response varies and that patients should be told a treatment may not help them.

Common questions

Yes. It is a small clinic, and a course of Deep TMS means coming in most days for weeks, so you get to know the treatment team well.

Trained clinicians on the treatment team, working to the protocol Dr Nabavi has set for you. Someone stays with you for the whole session.

Assessments are carried out by Dr Nabavi or one of the clinic’s psychiatrists. TPS assessments are always with Dr Nabavi.

With your permission, yes, and we think it is a good idea. You stay under your own GP or psychiatrist throughout.

Start with a conversation

Your first appointment is with Dr Nabavi or one of our psychiatrists, and the same small team looks after you for the rest of the course.
