Where to start

Conditions we treat

Some people arrive here knowing which treatment they want. Others know what is wrong and have no idea what to do about it. This page is for the second group.

Two ways in

You do not need to know the name of the treatment

Our treatments have technical names that most people have never heard, which makes them difficult to search for and easy to dismiss. It is usually easier to start from the problem.

Below is what we treat and what we can offer for each. If your situation is not listed, or you are not sure which of these describes you, an assessment will answer it in an hour.

Conditions

What we treat

Treatment-resistant depression

When two or more antidepressants have not worked well enough. We offer Deep TMS, pharmacogenetic testing and consultant assessment.

About treatment-resistant depression

OCD

When therapy and medication have not been enough. Deep TMS is cleared specifically for OCD, using a different coil from the one used for depression.

About OCD treatment

Alzheimer’s disease

TPS therapy, currently available at only two centres in the UK. Most people reading this are looking on behalf of a parent or partner.

About Alzheimer’s disease

Sleep disorders and insomnia

CBT for insomnia (CBT-I), the treatment NICE recommends before sleeping tablets, at the clinic or online across the UK. Dr Nabavi assesses other sleep problems.

About sleep and CBT-I

Smoking addiction

Deep TMS is cleared for smoking cessation, for people who have tried to stop before and have not managed it.

About Deep TMS

Anxious depression

Depression where anxiety is a prominent part of it, treated with the same Deep TMS protocol.

Not sure which?

How we work out what applies to you

A free phone call

Tell us roughly what is going on. If an assessment is unlikely to be worth your time, we will say so on the phone.

An hour with Dr Nabavi

Plenty of people have more than one of these going on, or have been given different explanations over the years. An assessment establishes what you are actually dealing with.

A recommendation in writing

What we think would help, what it would involve, what it would cost, and what the alternatives are.

Not sure which applies to you?

Call and ask. Conditions that Deep TMS and TPS are not approved for are not something we advertise, but Dr Nabavi may consider treatment case by case after assessment, based on published evidence and expert opinion. If it is not something we can help with, we will tell you that rather than book you an assessment you do not need.

Not for most of what we do. TPS for Alzheimer’s disease is the exception: it needs a confirmed diagnosis from an old age psychiatrist or a neurologist, and a brain MRI, before treatment.

No. You can contact us yourself. We will usually ask to keep your GP informed.

That is common, and it is one of the main reasons an assessment is the sensible first step rather than picking a treatment yourself.

Start with a conversation

If more than one of these sounds like you, or none quite fits, call anyway. Working out which applies is the job of the first call.
